Artist's Comments

A little experiment of fusing typography and illustration, an idea it occured to me some time ago... used some old drawings and most of my typography compositions for the background, and two new ones for the figures.

I must say I'm not quite happy with the painting as it is right now, but I really don't want to continue it cuz I was starting to hate it...

Still it was good practice and a nice way to start experimenting with this idea.

Wow. Great work, as usual. :) I think i might be using this as my desktop now, actually. I really like this. :D

No.
very moody. in fact, it has doom and end writeen (no pun intended) all over it. though i agree that it is missing something: a central focus. i mean, the monsters are looking at something, and it should be something human according to the title, but without the title, i would have never have guessed the art's story/meaning.

Thanks man. You are probably right about the focus, maybe I'll think about something if I change this piece in the future. By the way, the "human device" in fact is everywhere: the text. I know it's a bit hard to notice that (and to relate it to the tittle and idea), but that was the way I wanted it. I also wanted to add more hints about the "story" all over the ruins (like glyphs and drawings), but I got tired and left it like it is right now...

Thanks for your comment and critic! Much appreciated.
